Fresh Scratch Menu

I bake and deliver my artisanal goods in the Olympia, WA area.  All items are made with local, fair-trade and organic ingredients when possible. Don’t forget to “like” me on facebook!  Then you can get deals on my overstocks! Please email me your orders at fresh_scratch@yahoo.com. Kindly give me 48 hours notice. You can also email me there if you’d like to get on my email newsletter list. Please limit your order to no more than two different items, as I also cook for my family in my kitchen. Thank you! Here are my current goodies/prices:

New to the Menu:

Snickerdoodles: ($12/4 doz.; $9/3 doz.; $4.5o/2 doz.; $2.25/1 doz.) These may seem more of a holiday cookie than one I should be introducing to the menu as the weather warms up, but I have had such requests for them that I thought, “Why wait?!” I’m glad I didn’t! These are buttery, chocked full of cinnamon, and slightly chewy. They would make the perfect small ice cream sandwich.

Granola: ($5/2 c.) This granola adds a crunchy, healthy kick-start to any morning. I eat it every morning atop my homemade yogurt.  It is made up of organic oats, organic unsweetened coconut, sliced or chopped almonds, pepitas, and organic maple syrup.  You can add organic dried cherries or organic cranberries to the mix at no charge! It keeps for about 3 weeks in an airtight container.

Chocolate Cherry Cookies: ($12.50/doz. jumbo-sized cookies) Of Olympia Bakes fame! These satisfy your chocolate craving and your tart, chewy craving all at once! They are very chewy and soft and about 4 1/2 inches across.

Chocolate Cupcakes with Magical Icing and Sprinkles: ($10/doz. or $18/2 doz.)  There’s no shame in enjoying the moist texture and the flavor of a chocolate cake from a box. But there’s REALLY no shame in this cake, because it’s all that plus homemade.  The icing is “magical” because it’s funky: it involves flour if you want vanilla, or creme fraiche if you want the chocolate frosting you see here.  But it is so addicting and has such great texture!

Chocolate-Earl Grey Bundt Cake: ($13) This is moist, chocolate-y, and has a hint of earl grey tea.  I love to serve it at showers!  Sprinkle on some powdered sugar at the last minute for a nice effect.

Gluten-Free, Double-Chocolate Pecan Cookies: ($8/doz, $15/2 doz)  These have no flour whatsoever.  They are chewy and sticky and yummy with finely chopped pecan and dark chocolate chunks.

Banana Cupcakes: ($17/doz) For your little monkeys!!  These are made with roasted bananas and topped with a cinnamon-honey buttercream frosting in a fun design.  Garnish at home just before serving with a few slices of fresh banana.  My Teensy-Weensy Fresh Scratch went, well…bananas over these for her second birthday!

so sweet

Dainty Lemon Cakes with Lemon Icing: ($13.50/dozen) These little sweeties are so moist, delicate, and filled with lemons (zest and juice AND icing!)!  I just think they are so sweet. So pretty for a little girl’s birthday party or tea party!

Who keeps taking bites out of my work??

Fudge Brownies!!!!: ($12/doz)  These are rich, fudgy, but not too sweet.  They. are. the. perfect. brownie.  I should know.  I feel like I’ve been searching for “the one” for my whole life and finally found it!  It’s love!

Almond-Orange Yogurt Cake: ($17) This one layer, vanilla cake  has freshly zested orange peel inside, along with ground almonds and a cup of my own homemade yogurt.  It’s very moist and is topped with my own candied orange peel and orange-infused syrup.  My new fave!

Cotton-Headed Mini-Muffins: ($13/36 minis)  My Teensy Fresh Scratch named these in honor of Buddy the Elf, who is often called a “Cotton-Headed Ninny-Muggins.”  Huh.  Anyway, they are a very healthful muffin, containing whole wheat flour, wheat germ, bananas and blueberries we picked last summer (the blueberries – not the bananas!!)  Bet you can’t eat just one.  Or two….

Grandma Betty’s Apple Coffee Cake: ($15)  This 9×13 cake is big enough for a brunch potluck and has fresh apple pieces baked right in.  It’s my husband’s grandma’s recipe.

Lemon-Coconut Bread with a Lemon Glaze: ($14/loaf) Such a fresh, citrus-y treat in the middle of winter!  It’s very dense and moist and hearty.

Simple Chocolate Cake ($11/loaf)!  Know how sometimes scratch cakes don’t have that guilty, made-from-a-box fluffy moistness?  This does, but it’s from scratch…so minus the guilty feelings, if you’re me!

All that’s missing is a glass of milk!

Chocolate Chip Cookies: (4 doz/$18, 3 doz/$13.50, 2 doz/$9, 1 doz/$4.40)

Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies: ($9/dozen) Made just like my original recipe, but with Gluten Free Mama’s Almond Blend flour and a bit of xanthum gum added to the mix!  My husband couldn’t tell the difference between these and the traditional version!

oh.my.

Texas Sheet Cake: ($23) 9×13 dense chocolate cake with chocolate icing and sprinkles, if you swing that way!

Gluten-Free Texas Sheet Cake: ($33) Again, the next-best thing to the “real” thing.

Isn’t this a striking dessert?

Mommie’s Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting (and crushed pecans in the frosting if you like): ($50) a 3-layer cake or 30 cupcakes

Gluten-Free Red Velvet Cake($57) Not exactly Mommie’s recipe, but close!

A little blurry, but you can still scratch and sniff!

Peanut Butter-Chocolate Chip Cookies: (3 doz/$12, 2 doz/$8, 1 doz/$4)

Please let me know what I can whip up for you by emailing me at fresh_scratch@yahoo.com!  Let me know if you’d prefer something here, but gluten-free, and I’ll see what I can do for you.  I’m learning!
